Probability is not certainty: how to read our numbers
A percentage describes what may happen across many similar scenarios. It does not predict or guarantee the next match.
What a probability means
A 45% home-win figure does not say the home side will win. It means that outcome appears in roughly 45 of 100 comparable modelled scenarios.
The real match happens once. A red card, injury or individual error can make a less likely result happen.
Read all three outcomes together
Home win, draw and away win must be compared. A 38%, 30%, 32% split describes a balanced game, not a safe bet.
- Under 5 points: very small edge
- 5 to 12 points: moderate tendency
- Over 12 points: clearer signal, never a guarantee
Confidence is not probability
Probability concerns an outcome. Confidence reflects the quality, freshness and stability of the data. A favourite can still have limited confidence when information is incomplete.
What the number cannot summarise
A new coach, line-up changes, schedule, venue and opponent strength can all weaken historical comparisons. Confirmed absences add context but never determine a result on their own.
Use percentages responsibly
Compare the outcomes, check when the data was updated and accept the possibility of an upset. If you bet, set an affordable loss limit beforehand. Betting is not an investment.
