Five signs that it is time to stop
Stopping is not missing an opportunity. It is taking back control of your time, money and decisions before gambling causes harm.
1. You are chasing losses
Betting again to recover lost money is a clear warning sign. A previous loss does not make the next bet more likely to win. End the session and add no more money.
2. You exceeded time or money limits
Limits must be set before gambling. If you changed them or used essential money, stop and block further deposits.
3. You hide spending or feel guilty
Deleting transactions, lying about amounts or concealing bets suggests loss of control. Speak to someone you trust and share the real figures.
4. Gambling affects mood and relationships
Irritability, anxiety, poor sleep or arguments after betting call for a break. Do not gamble while drinking, highly stressed or distressed.
5. You borrowed or missed bills
Never borrow, sell possessions or delay housing, food and healthcare costs to gamble. Stop immediately, use self-exclusion and seek specialist support.
What to do now
Close the apps, disable notifications, set limits or self-exclude and tell someone. If there is an immediate crisis or danger, contact local emergency services.
